The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into a compact, sleek package. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it simple to clean and efficient in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also comes with strong suction and an automatic bin for emptying. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, however it isn't as effective as some of its competitors in terms of deep cleaning.

The latest flagship model from iRobot is also the most intelligent. It features advanced features, like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads on its own).
It's also the sole robot vacuum/mop that scored a perfect 10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is due to a mix of high-tech sensors including a structured light system, camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can completely self-refill and empty its base station and it boasts its own self-cleaning mop pads.
Like other iRobot models like the X40 is user-friendly, with a simple mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only issue is that it's an eerily noisy device, which can be a problem if you run it in the morning prior to work or in the evening as you try to fall asleep.
It's also quite expensive, but not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally powerful and more attractive. If you're willing with a little more noise and some additional cost, this is a very efficient two-in-one device that should delight most.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a variety of sophisticated features that will let you get rid of your chores. Similar to Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that takes the care of vacuuming and mopping, with a multi-function dock that automatically empties the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank, cleans and dry its mop pads.
The smart robot employs the combination of LIDAR and structured light to create the floor plan and detect obstacles, making it more efficient than its top rivals. It also has a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards but this was not 100% foolproof during our tests and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.
The vacuum cleaner has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to do the job. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vac works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home in accordance with the amount of dirt they tend to be.
If you own a larger home, it is worth selecting a model with a the option of cleaning zones or spots. This lets you instruct the robot on which part of your house needs to be cleaned using the app or voice control. A stair mode can be useful if you own a number of furniture. For families with busy schedules, a recharge function and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off can be very beneficial.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is a more efficient cleaner than you'd imagine from its price. It's a pro at vacuuming, removing 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using a single pad that uses an oscillating motion that is cleaner than the other mop cleaners for robots we've tried. It's self-sufficient too, with a full-featured application and an auto-emptying washable base.
The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through a mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you set on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, arrange a spot clean or to prioritize your most filthy rooms to improve performance. The app also provides access to many features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It does a good job vacuuming, but it is more susceptible to get caught on low thresholds and is a bit noisier than the other top robotic vacuums we've tested. It also has a less user-friendly app and a tiny base station that can't be used as a bin for emptying.
